Position
Job Title: Volunteer Board Member or Supervisory Committee Member (Advocacy Expertise)
The board of directors is responsible for the general direction and control of the affairs of the
credit union. While a credit union board of directors may delegate the execution of operational
functions to credit union personnel, the ultimate responsibility of the credit union's board of
directors is non-delegable.

Job Description
- Attend all Board and committee meetings. (70% minimum required)
- Serve a three-year term on the Board with the option for re-election to additional terms.
- Attend all special events and functions such as major events, retreats and training programs.
- Be informed about the organization's Vision, mission, services and policies.
- Participate in the Board's management and review process.
- Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.
- Assist the Board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities such as reviewing annual financial statements, budgets and accounting practices.
- Provide candid and constructive criticism, advice and comments.
- Periodically review the organizations long range goals and strategies and use benchmarks to compare them against similar institutions.
- Propose a slate of prospective Board members and fill vacancies as needed.
- Appoint independent auditors or accountants subject to approval by the Board.
- Be a champion and inform others about the organization.
- Serve on committees and also take on special assignments.
- Participate in the governance through election of new officers, appointment of staff and other matters to fulfill the requirements under the articles of the organization.
- Approve major expenditures according to authorized limits and guidelines.
