Central State Credit Union is committed to the safety and security of our members. You may have seen or read about the recently reported discovery of a security flaw in in a version of Open SSL, known as the Heartbleed Bug. We are in the process of conducting a review of our sites and services and can report that Central State's Internet Banking, Bill Pay and e-Statement services have not been impacted by the Heartbleed Bug and remain safe to use. We are continuing to monitor our systems, along with those of our service partners to ensure that no further action is required.
All members should continue to practice good security habits when using the internet and email. This includes:
- Periodically changing your passwords, preferably every 90 days. Use strong passwords that do not include your name, phone number, address, or common dictionary words. A strong password should be 8-20 characters and should include a combination of lower and upper case characters, numbers, and symbols.
- Protecting your log-in credentials. Do not write them down for others to discover.
- Never responding to emails from someone you don't know, or emails which contain a suspicious attachment or link.
- Keeping your Anti-Virus protection up to date on your PCs and other devices.
